Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner is an augmented reality game. Use your surroundings to fight waves of Tie Fighters attacking the Millennium Falcon!
The premise of Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner is fantastic. Using the iPhone's camera, it adds 3D enemy craft and meteors to your view. You can have the Empire attacking your bedroom, cityscape, office and more. Some views work better than others, and you need to be somewhere your iPhone has a clear compass reading to gauge your rotation.
As well as augmented reality, you can use a normal background, like the Death Star. This means you don't need to wheel round physically all the time! The actual gameplay in Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner, once you're used to the impressive visuals, isn't as good as it could be. Movement can be quite fiddly, although you'll improve over time, and the sampled comments from the likes of Han Solo and Princess Leia and so on gets repetitive very quickly.
Star Wars Arcade: Falcon Gunner will be difficult for fans to resist, and it's certainly cool for a few minutes. However, the gameplay gets old pretty quickly and there currently isn't enough variety to keep you coming back.
